Patients may include children, adults, seniors, and athletes. They come to me from all walks of life — maybe they need to get back to their sport, or to be able to play with their grandchildren, or maybe they just need to be able to work to support their family. I have the privilege of treating their shoulder and elbow injuries to give them the opportunity to once again participate in their daily activities.|Number 2 is the mix of being in the office and the operating room. I love that I get to see patients in the office and develop close relationships with them as well as perform surgery, if necessary. I get to interact with patients from the beginning; I listen carefully to their story, review advanced imaging with them, and collaboratively come up with a treatment plan that will allow them to get back to their life.|Number 3 is innovation and creativity. Orthopedics is an extremely exciting field and there are continual new innovations in the implants used to reconstruct fractures, replace joints, and treat ailments. No surgical case is the same which leads to a creative energy and thought process.|Nonetheless, the greatest part of my job is the joy of seeing a patient transition from a painful and inactive state to a pain-free active individual because of the care they received.
